At the young age of 3 years old, he and his family moved into his father’s business establishment, the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home. My older brothers, John and Steve, and I assisted our father in the many facets of the business. Following graduation from high school, I attended American Academy of Mortuary Science one year prior to entering Seton Hall University pre-medical program…. “Mortuary Science??” you ask….! Because it was the family business and Dad insisted I attend in spite of my protestations. My two older brothers had already graduated from the school and I had to follow. My father said I would always have the business to fall back on as a contingency plan, especially if things went awry in my pursuit of a medical career. Since Dad was paying for my education, I reluctantly acquiesced. I must admit that I really enjoyed that year in mortuary school because most of the subjects were medical courses, and chemistry was merely a refresher course in which I excelled in high school. I was bestowed the Dean’s award upon graduation. The professors were wonderful, amiable and knowledgeable. The student body was a disparate group of people from all walks of life and ages. I enjoyed and cherished the many wonderful friendships made during that year. Since then, I have also had extensive training in the sciences. Upon graduating from Loyola University Cardinal Stritch School of Medicine, Chicago, IL, I pursued a straight medical internship, a residency in general radiology, including diagnostic radiology and radiation therapy, at Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse, NY (SUNY). This was followed by one year fellowship training in Nuclear Medicine. Following successful completion of my training at Upstate Medical Center, I became Board Certified in General Radiology, in Nuclear Radiology, and in Nuclear Medicine. Furthermore, I studied Ayurveda, the medical branch of the Vedas, under the tutelage of Swami Sada Shiva Tirtha, and earned a PhD degree in Ayurvedic Medicine from Westbrook University. I authored and published a text entitled, “Converging Paths of Ancient Ayurveda and Modern Medicine.” I have also published many articles and scientific papers in radiology and Ayurveda. I am a certified hypnotherapist and graduated from the Academy of Professional Hypnosis. I have studied many facets of hypnotherapy, including past life regression. I must confess, I was a staunch opponent of reincarnation up until that time. I have also lectured on hypnosis, Chakra healing, and the fundamentals of Ayurveda. I was an educator and co-founder of the American School of Ayurveda, East Hanover, NJ.
Subsequently, I authored and published “Mysteries of Life, Death and Beyond” and “Revelations of the Ancient Past.” Further information concerning these books can be found on this website.
I also studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, NJ, and was recently awarded a Certificate in Medical Acupuncture. In 2023, I earned a doctorate degree in Neuroscience Acupuncture from Akamai University.
